Richard Anthes is President Emeritus of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). He received in PhD degree in meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles in atmospheric sciences. He was President of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in 2007 and in 2015 received the highest award of the AMS, Honorary Membership. Dr. Anthes co-chaired the US National Academy’s 2007 Earth Science and Applications from Space: National Imperative for the Next Decade and Beyond, and chaired NOAA’s Space Program Requirements Working Group from 2015 to 2018.
