Dr Raj Kumar, presently as Director, National Remote Sensing Centre, ISRO, is leading the team of scientists and engineers from various disciplines, with the mandate of satellite data acquisitions by establishment of ground stations, generation of data products, dissemination to the users, development of techniques for remote sensing applications including disaster management support, geospatial services for good governance and capacity building for professionals, academicians and students, through establishments spread across all over India with main campus at Hyderabad. With more than 38 years of experience, he has lead the activities related to understanding Earth System, processes and interactions using earth observation data, and its applications towards societal benefits as well as studies in Planetary sciences. Dr Raj Kumar has more than 100 publications in peer reviewed Journals of International repute and has also supervised more than 10 young researchers for their Ph.D.   As Project Director of ISRO’s Scatsat-1 Utilisation Programme, he played lead role in development of techniques for various  innovative applications and operationalization of data for global users.
